REGEN AESTHETICS offers Platelet Rich Plasma skin rejuvenation treatment. Platelets contain growth factors which are very important in the healing of tissues. The concentration of platelets – and thus the concentration of growth factors – can be 5 to 10 times greater than normal.

PRP technology was developed 20 years ago for heart surgery, to aid in wound healing and blood loss. PRP has been used medically for years to accelerate wound healing; repair tendons, ligaments and joint damage; heal diabetic ulcers; and help regrow muscle and bone. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling this stimulates a controlled inflammatory response with growth factors initiating a localized stem cell reaction. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process and leads to production of new collagen with healthy skin that looks tight, refreshed and rejuvenated.

A small volume of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and processed immediately in a special centrifuge. This concentrates and separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. After numbing the area being treated, the PRP is reapplied to the skin using a micro-needling device. Skin rejuvenation results are apparent 1 to 3 months after treatment.
